Experimental Studies of Dynamics in Molecules

The project is focused on the study of how molecules respond to photoexcitation to specific quantum states and how these dynamics can be monitored. This will be done with the use of advanced imaging methods that allows us to follow the evolution of the molecular geometry at its natural time scale. The main goal of the project is to develop a deeper understanding of how a transition to a potential in a molecule on which dynamics are initiated affects the geometry of a molecule, which can lead to new isomers, fragmentation or to bond extension. Part of the project will also be devoted to the commissioning of a new sample delivery system, which will include an ion trap.
